January Message

Well, by now you all know that the change in our contract with GM has been ratified by the majority of our active members (61%).  The changes for retirees have to be approved by the District Court in Detroit.  The International Union is speculating they should be approved by April 06.

I reported that the prescription drug co-pays would start once ratification was finished, but all changes must be approved by the court, so the drug co-pays, monthly contributions, deductibles, and co-insurance will start upon court approval in April.

The monthly contribution should come from your monthly pension check, but you have to give GM permission to deduct your monthly contribution, so pay attention to your GM mail in March and April. The permission slip should be in those mailings. Fill it out and return to GM.

Failure to give GM permission could result in your being placed into a “catastrophic health plan,” which could cost you significantly more for deductibles and co-pay.

Tax Statements
Your 1099s will be with your regular pension check in either January or February 2006, so, again, pay attention to your mail in January and February 2006 which should include your tax statement for “05”.

Chevrolet Center Discounts
Our President, Jim Graham, was able to negotiate a discount plan for all active and retired members of UAW Local 1112.
All Steelhound games are discounted and selected future events at the Chevrolet Center will be discounted.
Just show your UAW card at the ticket window to receive your discounted price. If you do not have a union card or cannot find your’s, call the union hall at 330-538-2213 or 2214 (extension 102/Diane or 104/Jim Stanton).  Diane will send you a new card.

Meetings
Meetings have been suspended by membership action until March of 2006. We will resume on March 6, 2006, at 11:00 a.m.

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
